From the President
It’s reassuring to know that PNGC Power offers many reasons for a positive outlook.
We are fortunate to have access to the Federal Power System, comprised of 31 dams
and a nuclear energy plant in our region, which delivers clean renewable power for
our members. PNGC provides a solid platform to support our owner-members in compliance
management, political advocacy, member communications, Bonneville Power Administration
oversight and power operations. The expertise of our staff represents decades of
industry experience and knowledge that we put to work on behalf of members every
day.
As our economy continues to recover, our member loads are predicted to increase.
We must be ready to serve that load growth using energy efficiency measures and
a carefully-researched portfolio of our own resources. PNGC’s unique ability to
pool member loads will provide one-of-a-kind opportunities for conservation and
creative energy efficiency programs. PNGC’s unique ability to pool member loads will
provide unique opportunities for generating resource development. Also, I anticipate
that customer-owned generation and creative energy efficiancy programs will plan an
exciting new role in our future power supply portfolio.
To ensure greater control of our future power supply, we already have embarked on
a journey to resource ownership. We have developed and prioritized a list of targeted
generation resources and are in the process of supporting and contributing to the
development of the most promising opportunities.
For more than a decade, we have been a cohesive generation and transmission cooperative
that actively manages a portfolio of resources and offers our member utility cooperatives
a competitive advantage. Now, more than ever, we are committed to pursuing a strategy
that will provide certainty, control and economic benefits for our owner-members
for many years to come.
That is our vision. And that is why, from where I stand, our future looks bright.
John Prescott
