PNGC Power Recognizes Outstanding Employee
Steve King, a nine-year employee, exemplifies high standards, love of learning
Portland, Oregon - 10/27/2004 - Steve King has been named the third annual Paul M. Vickery Award recipient for Outstanding Professional Service by employer, PNGC Power. King, Generation Resources Manager, oversees the Coffin Butte Resource Project, a landfill gas-to-energy facility located north of Corvallis, Oregon. And he manages an interest in the Boardman Coal Plant, evaluates generation projects and developed and managed a fuel cell demonstration program that spanned three years.
PNGC Power, based in Portland, is an electric power services cooperative owned by 15 Northwest electric distribution cooperative utilities with service territory in seven western states. PNGC Power provides power supply management to the member-owners' utilities.
According to PNGC Power Vice President for Engineering, Kevin Watkins, "Steve is a very capable individual and he has the highest professional standards. The projects that he manages are well run and operate at a high level of efficiency."
"I've been with PNGC Power nearly 10 years and I really take pleasure in my job," said King. "I like going to work and constantly learning new things. I thoroughly enjoy my time with PNGC and the people I work with." King is a long-time resident of Eugene.
The former employee, for whom the award is named, Paul Vickery, lost his life in a car accident three years ago. This annual employee award is meant to honor his memory by recognizing an employee whose work in the previous year has strongly reflected a commitment to excellence and high professional standards.
