PNGC Power Names Interim CEO
First step in leadership transition
Portland, OR - 08/30/2006 - Today, PNGC Power, a generation and transmission cooperative owned by 15 member utilities serving territories in seven western states, announced the appointment of Joe Nadal as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Nadal has been with the company for 27 years, serving most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
His appointment was made by the PNGC Power Board of Directors in response to the anticipated mid-September departure of Patrick Reiten who has accepted the position of President of Pacific Power, an electric distribution utility serving approximately 700,000 customers in Oregon, Washington and California.
"We have every confidence that Joe will provide key leadership to the company through this interim period and will keep us on a course to achieve our strategic goals," said PNGC Power Chairman of the Board, Dee Reynolds.
"We have a lot of important work underway with respect to our current operations and future planning. It will be important to keep the momentum going through this period," said Nadal. "PNGC Power has a highly professional, hard-working staff that will remain nimble and focused through this transition."
At PNGC Power, Nadal has managed long-term power supply and transmission contract arrangements with BPA, provided related technical services to PNGC’s member cooperatives, established wholesale rates and represented PNGC in regional policy forums while overseeing the PNGC finance and accounting group. He began his energy career as a consultant with the State of Washington and from there, moved to the Oregon Department of Energy. Nadal holds a Bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Southern California, as well as graduate degrees from Harvard University (East Asian studies) and the University of Washington (political science).
Nadal will serve as PNGC Power’s Interim President and CEO while the Board of Directors engages in a process to identify a permanent replacement for the President and CEO position.
