Energy Efficiency / Conservation: CPAs
Energy efficiency/conservation is the cheapest and cleanest source of new energy.
By decreasing the amount of energy we all use, we can lower our energy bills and
help control rising power costs. PNGC has the unique ability to pool member loads,
which will provide one-of-a-kind opportunities for creative energy-efficiency/conservation
programs.
To ensure that PNGC’s energy efficiency/conservation efforts are in line with BPA’s
– and the region’s -- goals, we have embarked on the first of what will be an annual
Conservation Potential Assessment (CPA) process.
The primary goal of using a CPA is to gauge how PNGC Power and our members’ conservation
potential will fit into regional requirements for conservation in the future. PNGC
continues to work with BPA on guidelines for energy efficiency / conservation that
make sense for our members. We are also using the CPA to establish a baseline of
meaningful data that’s typically difficult for all utilities to generate, i.e.,
square footage on commercial customers.
We anticipate a customized report for each utility cooperative member and an aggregated
report for PNGC Power, later this fall.
