Plant Technician Level 1

PNGC Power is an electric cooperative serving the power supply needs of 16 electric distribution systems located in the Pacific Northwest region. PNGC Power has a position open for a Plant Technician in Corvallis, Oregon.

The primary responsibilities for this position include: assist in the operation and maintenance of a landfill gas-to-energy generation facility in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner, maintain compliance with all applicable permits and regulatory requirements, fulfill contractual obligations to landfill owner, and maintain good working relationships.

Specific duties will include: monitoring and adjusting the landfill gas collection system, operating and maintaining Caterpillar gas engines and related generation equipment, make repairs and return project to “on-line” status promptly, and operating computer based generation management and operations software.

This position requires on-call responsibilities and will include irregular hours and some duty on nights and weekends.

Applicants must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machinery operation. Diesel and large engine mechanical experience is required, as is the ability to use computers, test equipment, meters, power and hand tools. Electrical experience is highly desired. The position requires lifting and carrying of heavy tools and equipment, hiking up and down steep inclines, working outside in inclement weather, working alone and cooperatively with others; also exercising effective time management, self motivation, resourcefulness, and organization. A valid Oregon Driver’s license and a good driving record are required.
