Portland, Oregon – November 13, 2024 – Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (PNGC Power), the region's only operational generation and transmission cooperative, announced today that it has entered into power supply purchase agreements for 307 megawatts (MWs) of power with multiple energy developers. The new power supply arrangements include a variety of resource types, delivery terms, environmental attributes, and locations across the Pacific Northwest. The new power supply purchase agreements (PPAs) are in addition to the region’s abundant hydroelectric resources that PNGC Power acquires through purchases from the Bonneville Power Administration.
PNGC Power’s mission is to enable its 25 cooperative members to meet the growing energy needs of their communities, which includes integrating diverse non-federal resources into their energy portfolio. These first projects with NewSun Energy will total 190 MW of solar generation located in Central Oregon and combines the best solar resource and transmission interconnection locations in the Pacific Northwest.

With a membership that spans over 431,000 meters across seven western states, PNGC Power continues to experience significant growth. It recently announced the addition of nine new cooperative members which, together with two additional cooperatives that joined in early 2024, make PNGC the largest federal preference power customer in the region.
